Why Atlanta gutters clog so fast

Metro Atlanta is one of the most heavily wooded metro areas in the country, and almost every tree here sends something to your roof. Oak tassels and pollen coat gutters in spring. Pine needles fall all year and heaviest in autumn. Hardwood leaves come down from late October into December, and sweetgum balls and twigs fill whatever space is left.

Then the rain arrives fast. Georgia thunderstorms can drop inches in an hour, and a clogged gutter can't move that water. It spills behind the gutter into fascia and soffits, pours down beside your foundation, washes out beds and soaks the ground around buried downspout pipes. Standing water in a clogged gutter is also a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

How often should you clean your gutters?

  • Every 3 to 4 months for homes under heavy tree cover, especially pines and oaks over the roof.
  • Every 6 months for moderate tree cover. Late spring and late fall are the usual times.
  • Every 12 months for homes with few trees nearby.

We'll tell you which schedule fits after your first visit. Read the full guide to cleaning frequency.

Gutters with covers or guards

Covers cut down how often you need us, but they don't end maintenance. Debris collects on top, fine grit and pine pollen slip through, and storms push leaves under the edges. We clean covered gutters too, and every gutter guard installation includes a free cleaning first.

Service agreements

Put your home on our calendar every 3, 4 or 6 months for gutter cleaning and skylight cleaning. You won't have to remember to call, and your gutters never fall behind. Ask about an agreement when you book.

Know someone who needs us? Referrals earn $10 off for one, $20 off for five and $50 off for ten or more.

Gutter cleaning questions

Do all houses need gutter cleaning?

Not every house fills its gutters at the same rate, but every roof wears. Shingle wear, wood rot, cracked vent boots and rodent damage are easy to miss from the ground. We recommend a full roof and gutter inspection at least every two years, and every cleaning includes one.

Does the price include cleanup?

We blend debris into your landscaping at no charge. If you'd rather have it hauled off your beds and lawn, we bag it and set the bags at your curb for trash pickup for $30 a bag. We can't know how many bags a job will take until we're up there.

Do you clear the downspouts?

Yes. We cover everything from the roof to the ground line, including flushing downspouts. If your downspouts run into buried pipes, those are a separate service: underground drain cleaning.

Will I get photos?

Yes. You get photos of the work and of anything that needs attention, along with an estimate for any repair.

Do I need to be home?

No. Most customers aren't home during service. Unlock any gates, and we'll text your invoice and photos when we finish.

What should I do before you arrive?

Unlock gates, make sure your outdoor water spigots work, keep pets inside, and tarp anything that can't get debris on it, including AC units.
